For some reason, I'm feeling nostalgic today.

See, today marks the first day of school here in the Philippines. I'm still quite grasping the concept of not going to school anymore (since I just graduated from college last March). It feels new, so exciting, yet a bit sad at the same time.

For sixteen years I've become quite used to getting all pumped up for the first day of school. All the hype on getting new stuff for school, the works, I kinda miss that. I even miss the cocktail of emotions I get whenever I get in a new class. New faces, new teachers, new stuff.

It's when everything feels weird but you take it in anyway coz you know it it only gets better in the long run.

It's when you get to meet new people, cool people, funny people, pretty interesting people who later turn out to become new friends -- an addition to the growing list of friends you met at school. And even if school feels like hell and you have had bad days you still go to school everyday because you know your friends will be there.

It's when you're kinda scared and anxious not knowing what's gonna happen to you at school that day.

You go around thinking,"Will I do good today? Will today be fun? Will I finally get to class on time? Will I not embarrass myself in front of that cute guy in Chemistry while I make a desperate effort to ignite whatever ounce of element that might make sparks fly between us?"
It's all so scary yet oh so exciting at the same time.

I'm missing all those now. Yet all those years in school I couldn't wait to get out.

Now that I'm 20 and graduated from college I never thought I'd say this:


I miss school.
